How to Maximize Adsense Earnings
72Increasing Your Adsense Earnings
Are you new to AdSense? Or are you not earning enough from what you expected? AdSense is the best revenue sharing program for bloggers to start off with if they want to learn how to earn money from blogging. Let's look at some of the efficient ways to maximize your AdSense earnings.
What to Do
-Place an ad above the fold
This area is much more visible to the readers of your blog, and have proven to be successful in getting a higher CTR for your ads. Also, place it in between content as well, readers will be able to chance upon it.
-Blending ads
Blend ads colour the same as your background, but do NOT change the colour of the text, this will be violating against google TOS, read their terms and conditions carefully.
-Stay away from high ranking keywords
It's very hard getting ranked well from such keywords, keywords with lower ranking have a higher potential of increasing the amount of visitors and the clicks on their ads. Would you rather rank well in a keyword that has a CPC of $0.30, achieving about 40-50 clicks per day or ranking in a high ranking keyword that pays $2 per click and getting perhaps only 2-4 clicks per day if you're lucky enough? Think carefully!
-Use 300X250 ads
The size of these ads give readers more exposure of the ads detail, thus attracting them to want to click on it.
-Use hosted blogging platform
This could be apply for people who just started out making money from online and doesn't have much income to buy their own site. A blogger/wordpress blog is good enough for you to make money from blogging. Let's look at it. A standalone site with good content and a hosted blogging site with good content, aren't they websites with good content? Whatever blogging platform you have, as long as you have good content, readers will come to your site.
What Not to DO
-Do not click on your own ads
You
will not earn any amount of money from doing this! Google is very
strict in this area, never click on your own ads as this will be a
violation against their TOS.
-Do not ask/pay people to click on your ads
This
is another stupid way of "maximizing AdSense earnings". Google ads are
suppose to be for readers of your blog/website to click on it if they interest
them, not you paying them to click the ads for you.
-Placing ads all over the site
Never
place more than three ad units and three link units on the same page,
this will be against the AdSense TOS, and readers will obviously not be keen to click on it AT ALL!
-Formatting of ads
Do not format
ads in such a way that they become indistinguishable from other content
on that page or site content so that it is difficult to distinguish it
from ads.
If you follow carefully on my tips and work hard on promoting your site content, I could assure that you are slowly maximizing your AdSense earnings, it's also very important to identify what not to do while using google AdSense, because their policies are very strict and once you got your account banned, high chance is that you will never get them back!

You misunderstand. I'm talking about my main site, which gets a quarter million page views a month and generates significant income. Adsense has been running there since 2003, so it's plenty of time :-)
The money is good. That's why I say I probably am doing the right things because even hands-on advice from Google did not change anything (after you reach a certain size they give you a little bit of personal attention. Get bigger, and I suppose you get much more).
I was hoping otherwise, of course.
The biggest thing you can do to boost adsense earnings, it get more traffic and not junk traffic, more targeted visitors will always produce more favorable results. Your tips here are very helpful too.

I have experimented 6 ways from Sunday and have never had my earnings change significantly. A Google Adsense expert even made suggestions, but again, no changes.
I suppose that just means I was already on target. I guess that's good to know.
One point though: until you have decent earnings on a page, there is no point in experimenting. Just follow the basic rules such as are stated above and hang in there.
